RETURN AND REFUND POLICY

Trumpet Publishing House

About us, and why this policy reads the way it does

Trumpet Publishing House is a small independent publisher. We are not a warehouse. Every book we sell is printed to order, individually, at the time you buy it. Nothing sits on a shelf waiting.

This is a deliberate choice. It lets us produce restored classics and new work to a standard that stock-and-dump publishing does not, and it means each copy is genuinely made for the reader who ordered it. It also means two things we ask you to understand before you order.

The first is time. Because your book does not exist until you order it, there is a production period on every title, followed by delivery.

The second is returns. Because each book is made individually rather than pulled from stock, we handle returns differently from a mass retailer. In short: we always stand behind a book that arrives faulty, damaged, or materially different from its description, and we do not offer change-of-mind returns on made-to-order items.

We sell our made-to-order editions directly through Trumpet Publishing House. We are expanding carefully, and some titles may become available through other retailers over time. What you buy here, direct from us, is always the made-to-order edition described in this policy.

Nothing in this policy affects the rights you have under the consumer law of your own country, which always apply.

Change of mind

We do not accept change-of-mind returns on made-to-order books. Each copy is manufactured for your order specifically and cannot be returned to stock.

Where the consumer law of your country gives you a right to cancel a distance purchase of a standard, non-personalized item, that right applies and we will honor it. In that case the book must be unread, unmarked, and returned in its original packaging within the period your law allows, and return shipping is at your cost. Refunds are issued once the book is received and inspected.

Personalized and bespoke books, including any copy produced with an inscription or a personal message, are made specifically for you and cannot be returned or canceled once production has begun, except where the item is faulty. Personalized goods are exempt from standard cooling-off rights in every market we serve.

Damaged, defective, or incorrect books

If your book arrives damaged, misprinted, or is the wrong title, we will put it right at our cost.

Contact us within 14 days of delivery with your order number and photographs. Because we work with external print and fulfillment partners, we need enough evidence to identify where the failure occurred, so please send:

  1. A photograph of the damage or defect itself.
  2. A photograph of the whole book, front and back.
  3. A photograph of the outer box or mailer, including any damage to it.
  4. A photograph of the shipping label.

Photographs must be clear, unedited, and taken by you. We may ask for additional images, and we may ask you to return the item for inspection before a remedy is issued. Return shipping in that case is at our cost.

We reserve the right to decline a claim where the evidence provided is incomplete, inconsistent, or cannot be verified. We also reserve the right to decline service to a customer with a repeated pattern of claims.

This section does not limit your rights where a book is genuinely faulty or not as described.

Images, thickness, and variation

Our product images are illustrative. They are intended to show the character of a book, not to serve as a photographic record of the copy you will receive.

Books are made to order and individual copies vary slightly in color, finish, and trim. Many titles can also be produced with added blank pages for notes or personalization, so a book may appear thicker in our imagery than the standard edition. Page count and thickness vary by title.

The written specification on each product page, format, binding, and page count where listed, is the description you are buying. Where a product's specification and its imagery differ, the specification governs.

We do not accept returns for minor variation between our illustrative images and your individual made-to-order copy. This does not affect your rights where a book is faulty or materially different from its stated specification.

Digital and downloadable editions

Digital editions cannot be returned once delivered. By purchasing a digital edition you agree that access is granted immediately and that any right to cancel ends once the download or access has begun. Junior Genius Reader links and worksheets are delivered by email within 48 hours of purchase. We will help if a file is faulty, incomplete, or will not download or open correctly.

We do not refund digital editions for change of mind. We will help if a file is faulty, incomplete, or will not download or open correctly. Contact us within 14 days of purchase and we will repair, resend, or provide a working copy.

Digital editions are licensed for your personal use and may not be resold, redistributed, or shared.

Order review and cancellation

We review orders before payment is captured and before production begins. We may cancel an order and release the payment authorization where we cannot verify the order, the delivery details, or the payment. No charge is taken in that case.

You may cancel your own order at no cost at any point before it enters production. Contact us as soon as possible, because production on made-to-order titles can begin quickly.

Corporate and bulk orders

We work with businesses on bulk and corporate orders, whether for client gifts, staff, events, or conferences.

Because every book is made to order, corporate orders are arranged directly with us rather than through standard checkout. Contact us with the title, quantity, format, delivery destination, and any personalization, and we will quote price, production time, and delivery.

  • Bulk pricing applies to orders of 10 or more copies. Rates are confirmed in your quote.
  • First orders are payable in full before production. We can arrange invoicing against a purchase order for established accounts.
  • Because each copy is printed specifically for your order, corporate orders cannot be canceled or refunded once in production, except where books arrive faulty, damaged, or not as described.
  • Bulk production times are longer than single-copy orders and are stated in your quote, not taken from the standard estimates.
  • For any fault affecting a bulk order, contact us within 14 days of delivery with photographs and we will replace or refund the affected copies.

We are glad to discuss personalization, co-branding, and repeat orders for corporate clients.

Trade and wholesale orders

Booksellers and retailers can order Trumpet titles at wholesale terms. Contact us for a trade account.

  • Wholesale terms are up to 50 percent of recommended retail price, arranged through our print and distribution partner.
  • We do not operate sale or return. Every Trumpet book is printed to order, so wholesale orders are firm sale and cannot be returned as unsold stock. Please order to demand.
  • Trade orders are business-to-business transactions and are not subject to the consumer returns rights set out elsewhere in this policy.
  • Faulty, damaged, or misprinted stock will be replaced. Notify us within 14 days of delivery with photographs of the affected copies, the carton, and the shipping label.
  • Production and delivery times for trade orders are confirmed per order.

Author copies

Trumpet authors can order copies of their own titles at author rates. Speak to us directly rather than ordering through the storefront.

  • Author copies are printed to order on the same terms and timelines as retail copies.
  • Author copies are not returnable or refundable for change of mind, as each copy is produced specifically for the order.
  • If a copy arrives faulty, damaged, or misprinted, we will reprint it. Send us photographs within 14 days of delivery and we will arrange a replacement.
  • Please check your proof carefully before ordering a quantity. We cannot reprint free of charge where the fault is in the approved manuscript or cover files rather than in the printing.

Crowdfunding campaigns

From time to time we fund special editions through crowdfunding platforms. Books pledged through a crowdfunding campaign are governed by the terms of that campaign, not by this policy.

When you back a Trumpet campaign, you are helping fund the production of a special edition, not buying an in-stock item. In general: books are printed after the campaign closes and are subject to the timelines stated in the campaign; cancellation requests should be made before the campaign closes or within the grace period immediately after; once production has begun, pledges cannot be refunded except where a reward arrives faulty, damaged, or not as described.

Your rights under the consumer law of your country continue to apply to any physical goods you receive.
